Anger Management - While anger often feels like a release at the moment, it ultimately makes the underlying pain worse. Chronic anger destroys our relationships and our own sense of self. Anger is a learned response and the response can be unlearned.
Anxiety - Anxiety is a sense of worry and doom about several life circumstances that have no factual or logical basis. Anxiety usually persists on a daily basis. Symptoms of anxiety are motor tension, restlessness, tiredness, shakiness, and muscle tension. Anxiety also includes Panic Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobic Disorders, and Agoraphobia.
Depression - Depression is a sense of sadness, gloom, diminished pressure, feeling of worthlessness and/or hopelessness which persist longer than two weeks. Sometimes depression can cause weight gain or loss, insomnia, mental confusion.
Grief and Loss - Grief and loss occurs in response to the loss of someone or something.
The loss may involve a loved one, a job, or individual life changes. Anyone can experience grief and loss. It can be sadden or expected, however, individual are unique in how they experience and process this event.
Drug and Alcohol - Substance abuse occurs when an individual persists in use of alcohol or other drugs despite problems related to use of that substance.
Substance abuse affects the family units, employment, physical health issues along with many other issues. With the motivation of AA members sobriety can induce motivation and counseling with a counselor in conjunction with each other.
Life Adjustment Difficulties - This presents many changes and difficulties throughout a person’s life span. Talking to a counselor can help you adjust to and negotiate the change, making the experience positive.
Gay and Lesbian Issues - Being gay, lesbian, or bisexual creates unique issues for these individuals. Such issues include coming out to self, family, friends, and the work place. Married individuals coming to terms with their sexuality. Partners difficulties in same sex relationships. Life situations exclusive to gay men, lesbian and bisexual individuals
Parent Child Conflicts - Parent-Child conflicts are a common occurrence and are often part of the natural process of a child’s development and growth as they transition through life into adulthood. However, there are times when these conflicts become serious and the danger of damaging your relationship with your child could be significant.
Pick your battles - Boy and girl fighting Relationships are never easy. Issues which impact on relationships are poor communication, imbalance of power, financial difficulties, extended family, religion, role definition and political differences. Talking with a counselor can help sort out the problem and teach a new way of communication to this couple. Healthy families converse and share life experiences and enjoy life.
